The Tongass National Forest seeks feedback on the 2008 Land and Resource Management Plan on its 5-year anniversary.
The Tongass is looking for feedback from the public on whether the plan is working as promised, or whether some changes are needed. In addition to looking for stakeholder and general public comments, the Tongass will lead a review of the Forest Plan’s “conservation strategy,” the system of old growth reserves and management standards that protects fish and wildlife across the forest. The review will also include a 5-year monitoring and evaluation report and an information needs assessment.
Public comments open until March 31, 2013. http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tongass/home/?cid=stelprdb5367364
